One of the games that stood out in 2022 as a new release was Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate. The newest introduction to the legendary series, it delivered on all fronts and then some! The game was met with great reviews from both your average gamer and the professionals. A good release is all about timing, build-up, and most importantly, the quality of the final product. Gamers are ready to forgive a late release if the quality is impeccable.

In this article, we will focus on the 10 most anticipated and awaited releases of 2022 and beyond. We will go through what makes these games so special, millions around the world cannot wait to swipe their credit cards (virtually, of course!) and grab their copies the minute they’re out. Games have fascinated the world for centuries now. Video games are just a reinterpreted version of those first entertainment options taken to the extreme.

What Makes A Game Desirable

What are the elements that make a game desirable? What has to happen so that people from across the globe wait for a game to be released, and then snatch it immediately upon arrival? For one, there is interest. The more anticipated and rumoured a game becomes, the better it will do in sales. The more you want something, the better the chances of acquiring it. And gaming companies know just how much marketing counts in all of it.

The way the game is presented is also important. Every word that’s put in the description, every image that’s shown in the demo video, they all matter. They determine if the game is either desirable or just another title. And finally, the mystery around the release itself. When is it coming out? Is it going to be a virtual or a physical release? What is the price going to be? Features, online, cross-platform? All these questions are making it even more desirable.

Ten Upcoming Games To Look Forward To

In 2022, besides the now-released titles people have been waiting for a while, there are still plenty of games that are about to be put on the market. The same goes for 2023 and beyond, as many of the games still have no release date, even year. One thing is for sure though, that these games will eventually come out. And when they do, they will be breaking record after record in sales and popularity. Or so developers wish!

The Elder Scrolls VI - One of the most awaited games in history, not just for the near future, the sixth instalment of The Elder Scrolls is still without a release date. We do know that it's going to come soon, after the November release of Starfield, but that is about it. The certainties about the game are as follows: The Elder Scrolls VI will come to Xbox and the PC exclusively upon release. That's it, unfortunately, that is the only piece of information that we can put our fingers on. Todd Howard, the producer of the game from Bethesda, said that the game is designed for a long-lasting impact, such as was the case with Skyrim, so this is why it's taking the team so long to put it out. Skyrim celebrated its 10th anniversary and yes, the game is still on top of things.

Overwatch 2 - Never before have gamers waited for a sequel like this one. Overwatch 2 is not just a new game, it will simply replace the first instalment of the series. Announced during Blizzcon 2019, the follow-up of the popular hero team-based FPS is nearly here. The places and the characters stay the same, but the changes and fresh faces are big! Early access to the new game will be given on October 4th. The early access will provide insight into the PvP mode only, with PvE being released in 2023. All platforms that are currently supporting Overwatch 1 will also carry the 2, such as the Switch, PS5, Xbox and so on. Another key aspect of the release is that yes, the game will be free to play in the core version. There will be an in-game store if you need it, of course. You can pay, or you can just fight, it's up to you!

The Witcher 4 - After the success of its predecessor, the fourth Witcher game surely takes its time. According to their team, the game is in pre-production still, three months after the initial rumours of it coming out as early as December 2022. We guess that's a null sentence by now. What we do know is that there is going to be a Witcher 4, after CD Projekt Red announced that the game everybody is craving for in the legendary Witcher saga has completed its "research phase". In translation, this means that the game is entering pre-production as quickly as possible, making it mandatory for CD Projekt Red to figure out things like structure, scale, and other details as fast as possible. Thanks to a partnership with Epic, the game will be developed on the Unreal Engine 5, rather than on the regular internal RED engine. No release date has been speculated so far.

Dead Space - After delaying two of its greatest upcoming titles for 2023, Redfall and Starfield, Motive Studios came back with a bang. More precisely, they announced the exact release date of one of the most anticipated games in the sci-fi and space genre ever made, Dead Space. According to the producers, the game will come out on January 27, 2023. Dead Space will be available for the PC, the PS5 and the Xbox Series X|S. Project Aurora, as the game is known in the developing quarters, the game is going to be a battle royale offering a fresh new way to play the genre. Dead Space is a remake of the game with the same name released in 2008. The game happens in the 26th century and stars Isaac Clarke. He battles undead beings Necromorphs. Unlike traditional zombies, they have to be dispatched by slicing off their limbs.

Hogwarts Legacy - Developed by Avalanche Software, the former Disney Infinity studio acquired by Warner Bros, Hogwarts Legacy is the most anticipated game ever made under the Harry Potter brand. The game is going to be an action-RPG set in the late 1880s. Players will be able to embark on their own journey through the magical wizarding world. "From learning powerful spells and brewing potions to honing combat skills and taming magical beasts, this game will allow players to experience the magical world as a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry like never before as they determine the fate of the entire wizarding world," reads a line from the game's description. Hogwarts Legacy was set to release in 2021, delayed for 2022. A delay for 2023 emerged when the producers suggested the game might just miss the deadlines for the current year.

Gotham Knights - Batman might be the first thing you think about when you hear Gotham, but in this case, there's no Batman in the game. Set to release in the first half of 2022, Gotham Knights will officially be released on October 25. In terms of expectancy, this will be one of the biggest games of yet another bustling holiday season. If you're unfamiliar with it, the comic books about Gotham will stay at the base of the story for this one. Bruce Wayne is dead but his Bat-Family is alive and well, trying to make the best of the worst possible scenario. Together, they must keep the legacy of their lost superhero and turn into the new beloved guardians of Gotham. The focus on the bad guys will be on the Court of Owls, a new storyline in the Batman mythology.

Starfield - Few games are as expected as Starfield, the new title from Bethesda, their very first utterly new title in over a quarter of a century. Confirmed for the Xbox and the PC, Starfield is a new adventure for gamers and producers alike. Gone are the medieval prisons and the older bombs. Now, the mission takes on a completely different, exciting and mysterious environment: space. Starfield's original release date was set for November 11th, 2022. As it mostly happens now with new and upcoming titles, the release was moved to the first half of 2023, date unknown. In terms of mechanics, the new Starfield is completely different compared to Skyrim. Sure, there will be some similarities, but not many. Starfield comes with a first-person camera view, helping gamers feel like they're more present in the action.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II - Okay, if you are a Call of Duty fan, and you most likely are if you are reading this, chances are you've been waiting for this game literally forever. Well, at least for three years or so, but still! Luckily, we now have a due date for the second Modern Warfare, and that date is October 28th, 2022. In a Twitter apparent leak from a guy named Reality, who leaked some previous details about the game and its multiplayer maps, the game will include many new or old and improved perks like amped, hardline, ghost, restock, scavenger, shrapnel and many more. We will eventually see which stand and which don't...

Dragon Age Dreadwolf - The fourth Dragon Age has finally received an official name, although not a release date just yet. We'll keep you posted. "Dreadwolf" will be the release name of the next instalment in the series about dragons, magic and power. The title implies a potent connection to Solas the Dread Wolf, a famous character in the lore of Dragon Age. The studio announced that more details, about the game and its release date, are coming this year. Dreadwolf will take place in Tevinter, a never-before-seen but known location in the Dragon Age lore. In terms of platforms, we will most likely see the game on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and the PC.

The Lord of the Rings - Gollum - For the fans of the popular fantasy movie series, the new game should be familiar by now, especially with the focus that developers have put on Gollum, one of the most important characters in the entire story. The release date for the new Lord of the Rings game is set on September 1st. "Gollum" will first be playable on the PC, Xbox, and PlayStation upon release. A Switch version will follow at a later date. The game is a brand new LOTR creation, an adventure that sees players exploring the fascinating world of Middle-earth. This time though, they will do it through the eyes of the nefarious Gollum.

How To Prepare For A Fresh Release

Is there a safe way to make the most out of a fresh release? If you are a fanatic for a certain title, there is only one thing you can do, and that is, hit the refresh button until you see the title in your favourite store, which is surely Egaming, and then hit the Buy Now button. Yet there are some tricks you can use to prepare for a launch and not get distracted into failing at it. It involves saving money, getting to bed early, and… patience!

When saving money for a new game, it’s best to do it in stages. A fiver now, a tenner tomorrow, and soon enough, you’ll have the budget ready. Next, in terms of getting to bed early, this applies for the release day. Be ready for a virtual stand-off with other players as they try to get the game, install it, and then use the multiplayer feature all of them at once. Resting is important before such a war! And finally, patience. Games get released every day but for the good stuff, people need to learn to wait. It’s as important as learning to enjoy the game itself.
